Uplighting (AKA mood lighting) is a subtle but powerful way to transform a space. Small lights placed around the room wash walls, columns and architectural features with colour, instantly changing how the venue feels, photographs, and flows through the evening.
Highlights architectural features, draping and décor
Ties the room together with a cohesive colour palette
Guests always notice the uplighting and comment on how much it brings out the beauty of an event. It makes bland photos pop, and gives ordinary candid’s during dancing the real wow-factor that your event deserves.
Uplighting is ideal for venues where the existing lighting isn't the most flattering. Not only does it set the mood as the party transitions from dinner to drinks and dancing, but it's also going to keep an area glowing for guests to mingle when all the other lights go out.
Discreet, wireless uplights can be positioned wherever they’re needed, without trailing cables or trip hazards. They arrive fully charged and run for up to seven hours on battery power.
The LED units stay cool to the touch all night, making them safe around children, fabrics and draping.
All lights sync instantly and can be controlled from anywhere in the room, either via a small RF remote or directly from the DJ booth when I’m providing the music.

If you already have a colour scheme in mind, uplighting can subtly echo those tones to bring the room together as a cohesive whole. Where no scheme exists, neutral shades such as warm white, soft amber or gentle ivory provide an elegant foundation that suits most venues and photographs beautifully.
Lighter tones feel open, soft and romantic, while deeper colours add richness and draw attention to architectural features. There’s no right or wrong choice – only what best supports the atmosphere you want the room to hold before the night unfolds.
When uplights are hired on their own, they’re typically used as a static décor feature left to enhance the room throughout the evening. This approach keeps the space cohesive and understated, particularly during arrivals, dining and conversation.
When I’m DJing, uplighting becomes part of a live lighting system.
As the night transitions from seated moments to dancing, uplights move, flash and react alongside the dancefloor lighting to build energy and highlight key moments.
At that stage, the focus isn’t on preserving a colour palette. It’s on atmosphere, momentum and impact. The lighting shifts with the music, helping to lift the room and fully immerse guests in what’s happening on the floor.
Both approaches are intentional.
They’re simply designed for different moments of the same night.
